If you like working with animals, plants, the land, or in an agribusiness-related field, our Agriculture Management & Production program is perfect for you. Our hands-on program has amazing resources which gives you real-world experience to apply what you learn in the classroom. We use the latest technology on our 900-acre lab that includes row crops, pasture and livestock facilities at the Ag Center. You will be trained on the latest equipment as we lease new tractors, self-propelled sprayers and combines.
We will prepare you with hands-on experiences essential for a multi-faceted career in the agriculture industry in one of our three focus areas within the program: Agribusiness, Agronomy and Diversified Agriculture. Recent Agriculture Management & Production graduates report an average starting salary of $51,896*. Careers include:
The European Journal of Agronomy, the official journal of the European Society for Agronomy, publishes original research papers reporting experimental and theoretical contributions to field-based agronomy and crop science. The journal will consider research at the field level for agricultural, horticultural and tree crops, that uses comprehensive and explanatory approaches. The EJA covers the following topics:
crop physiology crop production and management including irrigation, fertilization and soil management agroclimatology and modelling plant-soil relationships crop quality and post-harvest physiology farming and cropping systems agroecosystems and the environment crop-weed interactions and management organic farming horticultural crops papers from the European Society for Agronomy bi-annual meetings In determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, particular scrutiny is placed on the degree of novelty and significance of the research and the extent to which it adds to existing knowledge in agronomy. Confirmatory research and results routine cultivar or agronomy trials in which there are no identified biological processes will not normally be considered for publication. Modelling studies have to be informative and innovative and used to illustrate important generic issues facing agronomy. Studies in which a model is only tested against observed data for its goodness-of-fit are not generally welcome. Field experiments need to be either multi-locational or multi-year and normally three at least and be accompanied by appropriate statistical analysis. Glasshouse experiments are only accepted in exceptional circumstances. Review articles are normally written on invitation from the Editor-in-Chief. Authors intending to prepare review papers for the Journal are advised to consult the Editor-in-Chief before writing their reviews. Forthcoming special issues are focusing on uncertainty analysis in models and the status of non-renewable resources in agriculture.
The Italian Journal of Agronomy (IJA) is the official journal of the Italian Society for Agronomy. It publishes quarterly original articles and reviews reporting experimental and theoretical contributions to agronomy and crop science, with main emphasis on original articles from Italy and countries having similar agricultural conditions. The journal deals with all aspects of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the interactions between cropping systems and sustainable development. Multidisciplinary articles that bridge agronomy with ecology, environmental and social sciences are also welcome.
Key Cooperative is proud to partner with local FFA chapters to provide a hands-on grain marketing experience. Bushels for Ag was developed in 2012 when Key identified the critical need to educate our next generation producers to better prepare them for their future operations. Each year, Key Cooperative donates bushels of corn and soybeans and encourages their member-owners to get involved as well. Through their Ag Marketing classes, High-School students gain the opportunity to market corn & soybeans in a hands-on simulation. All grain proceeds go directly to local FFA chapters and member-owners have the opportunity to choose which chapter their grain is donated to. 3 healthy. One of the things I learned from this book is that not all manure and compost are equal!.mr. Kinsey subscribes to the Albrecht System which works toward balancing the soil. There is a lot of science in this book (which is pretty much written for the lay person), along with a lot of personal examples of its principles and case studies.having our soil properly tested for micronutrients and then remineralizing it is a long-term investment in our homestead and everything on it. No matter your farming philosophy, this book is an excellent and helpful resource. This book is composed of never ending anecdotes with very little or no supporting evidence. I don't even know if this book was even copy-edited. If you're a scientist with an evidence based and logical way of thinking, this book is going to drive you up the wall. You're going to want to throw it across the room in frustration because Neal Kinsey can't write worth crap, nor can he present coherent ideas at all. This book was written by a person whose career is literally an age of technology and research ago. His sayings aren't born out by time tested trials nor does most of what he writes make sense. Get the Western Fertilizer Handbook and you'll be in much clearer hands.this isn't for self education, it's a tome of a rambling old man who wants to boost his ego every ten pages. I have been following Neal since before he wrote the first edition of Hands-On Agronomy. His insight into soil fertility as outlined by Dr. Albrecht continues to inspire me and should be required reading by anyone looking to understand the relationship of all living organisms to the balance of nutrients available in the soil. Optimum production of any crop is only achieved with proper levels of all major, secondary and micronutrients. I know of no other place that lays these optimum levels and their relationship out so plainly and so easy to comprehend. Great reading for anyone who is concerned about the health of their soil and making sure your products have the necessary micronutrients, whether it be livestock or garden products. I've read many, many books on soil health and this in one of my favorites right next to my books from Albrecht. As a farmer, I was excited to learn more about colloidal exchanges, but after reading Neal's book, I realized its really just one big plug for his soil testing company and is incredibly hard to follow. Throughout the book, he uses anecdotes to make points about soil that are hard to connect, and even harder to try and figure out how to apply to your own operation. I would recommend the
The Country Partners Cooperative internship program was established to provide opportunities for students interested in the agricultural industry to gain experience in a structured work environment. During their time with us, our interns have the opportunity to explore a variety of jobs and career paths within our cooperative. As they work side-by-side with members of our agronomy, grain, energy and feed teams, we also have the chance to get to know them. In many cases, we will extend a full-time job offer to individuals who are a good fit for the Country Partners culture. 2b1af7f3a8
