This pack includes all the drum and bass and electronic elements I used, plus some stuff from a few other albums I have mixed and the vocal packs from the The Unusual Suspects project. It's not all original stuff, but it's a good mix of some of my favourite stuff from the past. It's a bit of an experiment, so it might not sound like your usual DnB, but it's more of a creative experiment, so don't judge it too harshly. There are a few of my own compositions in there too, but they're not very good or refined yet. I hope you enjoy it.
This pack was created for a project from my time at college, a side project called The Unusual Suspects. We put together an electro-rock album with some other musicians. We recorded it at their rehearsal space in the city centre, while they were recording theirs at a studio in the suburb!
Their first studio album, The Money Store, was written and produced in Malibu. The group's second album, No Love Deep Web, was also recorded in Malibu, with Hill performing on the album with an acoustic guitar. The group commented that there was no sound of the ocean while they were recording the album.[10]
An interesting thing about the pack is that it has been recorded using a dedicated rig with a Zoom H5 Microphone and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo card. To limit the high end of the mic range, a Neumann M149 mic has been used. The resulting sound is not the most natural as there is more emphasis on the higher frequencies which sounds nice for foley work, sound design and work that needs to sound a bit more aggressive. This way it is easier to balance the sound to create more natural sounding drums, FX and risers.
