Most children enjoy eating pasta, and it is a popular meal choice when dining out. But you can also make delicious pasta at home with the amazing pasta recipes for kids mentioned here. You can also sneak in healthy ingredients such as vegetables which your child may not usually prefer. You may add egg, mushroom, fish, chicken, or shrimp to make it more yummy and nutritious for your child. Be it dinner, lunch, or a party, children would give each plate of pasta a finger-licking finish without any complaints!
Think of this as a versatile vegetarian pasta recipe that works wonders with a variety of vegetables so you can use whatever you have in the fridge. I like to think of this as a great way to use up any veggie scraps left in the produce drawer.
This healthy vegetarian pesto pasta recipe is easy to make and perfect for a fuss-free weeknight meal. Ricotta gives this sauce a creamy texture, fresh basil provides a bold flavor, and the added pine nuts gives it a nice crunch! Tossed with frozen spinach, this pesto veg pasta is ready in just 30 minutes, and makes a quick dinner recipe for the whole family!
This is a wonderful healthy recipe to enjoy anytime of the year. The basil pesto pasta is lightened up with the addition of spinach, pine nuts and a bunch of fresh herbs. In addition it is served with whole wheat penne adding fiber to this dish too! Much healthier than regular pasta, you can also choose to serve it with lentil or chickpea pasta to amp up the protein.
I regularly hide vegetables in recipes, but this vegetable pasta sauce might be my favorite so far. It is so delicious you won't believe what is in there! This pasta sauce made with mixed vegetables looks like a regular tomato sauce and tastes just like one too, but sweeter and more complex in flavor. It has a cherry tomato base and combined with carrots, zucchinis, onions, red peppers and garlic. No complicated ingredients, only simple garden vegetables. Everything is cooked together in a large pot, until the veggies are softer and almost caramelized. Then everything in blended to reach an extra smooth texture. The carrots and red peppers naturally have enough sugar to balance the acidity from the tomatoes. That sugar also helps the vegetables caramelize when cooking in the pot, which makes this sauce taste so delicious!
This sauce is not only perfect for any pasta dishes (just use it as you would use your favorite tomato sauce), but also great as a healthy alternative to regular pizza sauce. Use that recipe when making these vegan lasagna roll ups to get an extra dose of veggies.
I have been searching for a veggie pasta sauce (that my older one would actually eat). All the recipes included either broth - I do not like using broths or stocks; and/or too many ingredients. Thank you thank you for such a simple easy recipe and even easier instructions!!
You read my mind!!!! A couple of weeks ago I was scouring the Internet for a spaghetti o recipe. They are one of my favorite comfort foods. My mom made them for me and my brother and sister when we were little. Where did you get the o-shaped pasta?
Ahh, just seeing the title of your post today brought back so many fond memories! I was one of the few children who loved bringing hot lunches (i.e. a canned pasta or something of that nature in a thermos). Yum!
I found the Gf pasta at Sprouts on a whim and thought I would give them a spin! I added a little more Stevia to these and a little more milk to cut the bitterness of the tomato sauce, and let them sit over night and they taste just like the real thing! Thank you for the awesome recipe!
Katie, I made this recipe tonight for my kids and it was really good! The seasonings were perfect! I will definitely make this again. The only 2 things that I will do differently next time, is to cook the pasta al dente, before adding it to the sauce, and reserve a little bit of the pasta water to thin it out a bit at the very end. Thanks for sharing!Michelle
We also have been loving this vegetable pasta bake recipe for the fact that it is the ultimate flexitarian formula. It can be made as-is, or with the addition of cooked turkey or plant-based sausage. I have even tried it with vegan ricotta and cheese and it was a total hit!
As it is, this recipe would not be suitable for a keto diet as the pasta is far too high in carbohydrates. That said, the green sauce could be stirred through courgettie or zero carb spaghetti for a scrumptious keto version of this recipe.
This recipe is pretty flexible, you can play around with different types of pasta, wholemeal is lovely. Throw on a handful of toasted nuts for a bit of texture, or a poached egg for extra protein. You can also add roasted veg or halved cherry tomatoes if you like.
This delicious green pasta sauce is SO yummy and a great hit in our house! My kids loved helping to put the sauce ingredients into the blender and tasting the delicious result! There's a great range of recipes in 'Living on the Veg' - definitely well worth checking out!
What is not to love about these six one-pot pasta recipes? My kids get a one-dish meal at least several days of the week. It is harder for them to turn down veggies and it makes dinner a quick weeknight meal. Grab a box or container of uncooked pasta, a few other simple ingredients and say no to complicated meal plans!

This Cheesy Vegetable Pasta Bake recipe is loaded with fresh spinach, tomatoes, garlic, parmesan, and mozzarella cheese. A hearty and healthy vegetarian recipe is the perfect pasta dish for a busy weeknight. This baked vegetable pasta is super kid-friendly because kids love pasta and cheese, even if you sneak in some greens and make it a spinach pasta bake.
This spinach pasta bake recipe is one that I had forgotten all about until I was doing some organizing of my recipe collection and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I found the well-worn 3×5 recipe card with this gem on it. 2b1af7f3a8
