The highly detailed image of IC 5332, located more than 29 million light-years away from Earth, is just the latest in a series of impressive snapshots taken by Webb, the $10 billion telescope that launched last December. The project is a collaboration between NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
To keep MIRI at the right temperature, engineers outfitted the instrument with a dedicated active cooling system. MIRI needs to be super-cooled to reduce \"noise\" from other infrared radiation that might make its images grainy. The rest of Webb is also kept cold, but not nearly as chilly as MIRI, which is 33 degrees Celsius cooler than all other parts of the observatory.
Exposure to media images of thin-and-beautiful women negatively affects the body image and mood states of young women. However, not all women are equally susceptible to these effects. The present experimental investigation with 123 young college women evaluated the moderating effects of the extent of internalization of media ideals. It also examined the preventative impact of two brief interventions (i.e., media literacy information with and without a dissonance-induction procedure). Results indicated that relative to a control group, the exposure to thin-and-beautiful media images adversely influenced the state body image of participants with high internalization levels. Media-literacy psychoeducation prior to the media exposure prevented this adverse effect. Adding a pre-exposure dissonance-induction procedure did not significantly enhance the preventative effects relative to psychoeducation alone. These results and their implications for the treatment and prevention of body image disturbances are discussed in the context of the empirical literature on the media's effects on body image.
McArthur's image was chosen as the winning photo by the public through online voting. More than 50,000 photographs were submitted to the annual contest, which is hosted by the Natural History Museum in London. Twenty-four images were chosen by museum staff for the People's Choice Award competition. The picture will be showcased in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the museum until it closes on May 28.
The award-winning photo was taken in 2009 at the Ape Action Africa sanctuary in Mefou, Cameroon. (A museum spokesperson confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the contest has no time restraint on when images are taken.)
Our Lady Undoer of Knots is a less known title of Mary that has recently gotten more recognition since Pope Francis became the pontiff. She is ascribed with undoing the hardest knots that keep man in bondage. The painting shows Mary accomplishing just that. She is undoing a knot with the help of angels. Schmidtner creates an image where one is transported to Heaven and is witnessing how Mary helps those souls still on Earth. It is magnificent.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a title of the Blessed Mother that reminds us that we can all fly to Mary in prayer when we are in great need or in general. Her help is perpetual as is her love for us. While the creator of this painting is unknown, its beauty is unmistakable. The subjects are not quite is the correct portion as you can see by looking at Christ whose appearance is that of young boy but is the size of an infant. Despite that, the painter adds a heavenly, regal quality to the Blessed Mother and Christ with shimmering gold. The striking colors also add to the image making one unable to look away.
This fact extends the discussion to another level: what is the role of astronomers in communicating with the public Ultimately, it is to display and express the beauty of our universe by making it understandable to everyone. This enterprise sometimes requires explaining the intricacies of scientific studies, which often go well beyond magnificent images. Just as a clock is effective in measuring time because of the intricacies of its clockwork, the full beauty of a space photo rests upon complex mathematics. The numbers that these images hide have a charm all their own.
Recently I found an amazing APP called Photo Lab,and I'm curious about one effect called Paper Rose.In the pictures belowone is the original picturethe other is the effected picture. My question is what kind of algorithm can do this effect, and it would be better if you can show me some code or demo. Thanks in advance!enter image description here
The advanced camera system on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max features new Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras, all powered by the unmatched performance of the Apple-designed A15 Bionic. The new Ultra Wide camera features a much wider Æ’/1.8 aperture, bringing a 92 percent improvement for low-light environments, producing images that are brighter and sharper. The new lens design, autofocus capability for the first time in the Ultra Wide camera on iPhone, and advanced software allow users to capture impressive macro images and videos where subjects appear larger than life.
Because I have autism, I live by concrete rules instead of abstract beliefs. And because I have autism, I think in pictures and sounds. I don't have the ability to process abstract thought the way that you do. Here's how my brain works: It's like the search engine Google for images. If you say the word \"love\" to me, I'll surf the Internet inside my brain. Then, a series of images pops into my head. What I'll see, for example, is a picture of a mother horse with a foal, or I think of \"Herbie the Lovebug,\" scenes from the movie Love Story or the Beatles song, \"Love, love, love...\"
What we have come to expect with professional cameras these days is a dual-native ISO. Fortunately, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 delivers with native ISOs of 400 and 3200. While we will be getting into the details of what we think about the image later, this is handy, and we were able to get super clean footage out of both.
Blackmagic footage in either RAW or ProRes is super easy to grade with very little effort; you can manipulate the image in any way that makes you happy. For one project we were working on, we needed to push the colors to an extreme, and they held up beautifully without glowing. Working with Blackmagic footage is always a breeze.
The back of the camera features a beautiful five-inch HD touch display, which despite it being in a dumb spot is really a pleasure to use. The large screen pops out a little and tilts. This is a bit of an improvement on the BMPCC 4K, which has its screen fixed to its rear. A little tilting to beat reflections is nice, but what about a fully articulating screen There is such a demand for an articulating screen that you can buy aftermarket kits to modify your BMPCC 4K or 6K to do that.
Cinematographers who buy this camera are likely doing so because of the terrific image in a RAW format and find creative workarounds to deal with its many flaws, but is that little extra image quality worth the hassle, especially when there are so many other options out there at similar price points Whether the camera is worth the tradeoffs is up to you.
In the image above wispy clouds of gas and a strange \"superbubble\" dominate the view in this Hubble Space Telescope image. The nebula, or gas cloud, known as N44, is located in a nearby galaxy called the Large Magellanic Cloud (opens in new tab). In the image, you can see hydrogen gas glowing in the dark, along with dark dust lanes and stars of all ages, in a complex structure roughly 170,000 light-years from Earth (opens in new tab).
Before Hubble could start capturing incredible pictures of the universe, the telescope's first order of business was to test out its instruments and make sure everything was in working order. On the right is the first image Hubble ever took, which focused on the 8.2-magnitude star HD96755 in the star cluster NGC 3532. On the left is an image of the same patch of the sky taken by a ground-based telescope.
The image, taken using Hubble's Wide Field Planetary Camera and released May 20, 1990, demonstrate Hubble's improved visibility compared with observatories on Earth, where the atmosphere (opens in new tab) can obstruct the view. It was also intended to help with focusing the telescope.
\"Even accounting for the aberration in Hubble's mirror, the space telescope's image (right) offers more clarity than what was generally possible with ground-based observations,\" NASA said in a statement (opens in new tab).
The Hubble team released this image of the hourglass-shaped Southern Crab Nebula for the space telescope's 29th anniversary, in 2019. Not to be confused with the Crab Nebula (opens in new tab) found in the constellation Taurus, the Southern Crab Nebula is the beautifully symmetrical structure created by an uneven binary star system. In that system, one star has already exploded and turned into a white dwarf (opens in new tab).
Some of Hubble's most famous images are from the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (opens in new tab), which has peered at the most distant galaxies ever observed. This image zooms in on a patch of the sky that contains about 10,000 galaxies that lie up to 10 billion light-years (opens in new tab) away from Earth. Astronomers use these deep-space images to look back in time and study the universe's origins and evolution.
This version of the composite, released in 2014, is an improved version of the original one that was released in 2003. It incorporates even more observations with more wavelengths of light. Hubble acquired the data for these images using its Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3.
The Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant located 2,100 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. It's also one of the most massive and brilliant X-ray sources in the sky and measures about 110 light-years wide. Astronomers believe the Veil Nebula was created when a star 20 times the mass of the sun exploded around 8,000 years ago, and stellar wind from the explosion gave the cloud its shape. The Hubble team released this image on Sept. 24, 2015. 59ce067264
